ICE - In Case of Emergency

What would happen if you were to have a medical emergency at a meeting or when out and about with a u3a group? At our recent facilitators meeting ICE cards (in case of emergency) were on the agenda.  The committee of our U3a has recommended that our members should be encouraged to carry ICE cards including the following details:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Medical conditions and allergies
  • Medication
  • Name of emergency contact, relationship and contact number

There are templates for ICE cards on the internet, which you can download for free.

You can also add emergency information to your mobile phone. Go to Settings, then Safety and Emergency (or a similar option like About Phone>Emergency information on some devices) and fill out the Medical Info and Emergency Contacts sections.    Ensure you select the option to Show on Lock screen so that first responders can access the details in an emergency.
