What is Beacon?

Various u3a groups use the Beacon system to store details about their u3a - membership details, financial information, group details and other useful information. The Beacon administrator for Olton and District u3a is Geoff T.

All the membership data is stored securely and will never be shared with any third parties. The data is backed up regularly by the Beacon team. The data is not held on the personal computers of users with access to Beacon.

Each Beacon user has permission to access only the data that is relevant to their role, for example the Treasurer will have different permissions from a Group Facilitator. Permissions are allocated by our Beacon administrator.

Using Beacon allows us to add a number of members to a group and simplifies the sending of a group email to those members. Details of any money taken by a group, e.g. for a trip or for a group meeting that requires payment are also stored in Beacon and associated with the group.

The Beacon Portal

When you join our u3a we need to collect some details from you - your name, address, email address and telephone number. The Membership Secretary stores this information in the Beacon system. As a member of Olton and District u3a you can see what information is stored about you by clicking on the button below. You need to set up a password to access the portal, just follow the link. You can then view and change your own personal details.
