Walking

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: Monthly on Mondays
Third Monday of each month

We are very fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of very beautiful countryside, just a few miles from our doorstep. Most of our outings are circular walks between 4 - 6 miles, at a pace suitable for all, with the aim of enjoying and learning about our Midlands countryside. Whatever the weather, we make sure that we are suitably equipped, whether it is with cagoules and warm clothes or sunscreen and sun hats. Comfortable walking boots are essential.

The facilitator for this group is Geoff T.

Prior to the walk, the walk leader will distribute the details of the walk to members of the group, including

  • Start location and time
  • Car parking details
  • Contact phone number for the walk leader
  • The distance of the walk, and the terrain
  • The expected time to complete the walk
  • Whether toilet facilities are available at the start of the walk

Most walks cross land with livestock, so no dogs are allowed on the walks. Some walks may include stiles or some steep or muddy terrain. An appropriate pace is set for the slowest person. The walk leader wears a hi-viz jacket, and a back marker is appointed to make sure that we don't lose anyone on the way!

At the end of each walk, our members usually enjoy a post-walk lunch or refreshments. Members usually need to notify the walk leader if they are planning to join the group for lunch, and sometimes pre-ordering of food is also necessary.

2026 Walk Schedule

Below you can see the provisional walk schedule for 2026. TBA indicates that the walk leader has volunteered to lead a walk on that date and details of the walk will be updated when the details are finalised. A gap in the schedule indicates that volunteers are still needed to lead a walk on the specified date, and details will be included when they have been finalised. Anyone who is willing to lead a walk should contact the group facilitator using the link above,
