The u3a in the UK (formerly University of the Third Age) was founded in 1982. The founders believed that later life should be a time of continued learning, connection and contribution. They wanted to challenge negative stereotypes around ageing and to encourage older adults to share skills, knowledge and friendship.
Each u3a is different, depending on the interests of its members.

This magnificent owl was unveiled in 2020 to commemorate the centenary of the death of Edith Holden, who lived in Kineton Green Road, where the owl is situated.
Edith Holden was a renowned naturalist and is best known for her book 'The Secret Diary of an Edwardian Lady'.
Geoff managed to obtain this image before the owl was caged to deter "chainsaw vandals".

A successful u3a always needs willing volunteers to step forward and help with our organisation.

Thanks to Mike G. Geoff T. and Kevin W. for the slideshow photographs.
